Alcohol can be a friend in certain situations. One drink can help you relax at the end of a stressful day but if you have a period of stressful days you may find that you have lost your natural ways to relax and are reaching for the bottle every day to help you unwind.
People seek solace in alcohol when they cannot face some sad thing that has happened or to give them support when they are faced when a particularly tough problem, or worse, to help you face somebody. If you are frequently needing a drink for either of these reasons, you need to examine your life and find out what has changed and what changes you should put in place to bring balance back into your life to help you deal with these times.
